Hmm, scarves...

Been doing SD with the intent of popping five titles in rapid succession, though I will seriously need to crank out some sweets to get there.

Also running the Wintersday chest when I get bored with that in the hopes that I will get lucky. At least I can just run to the end and go afk to do other stuff.

a scarf would be new, i'd like to have it
a hood however, no thx

and yea, why are the grentchies gone? (uh oh, i feel a quote joke coming up)
those grentchies were here every year, why remove something like that?
nostalgic and funny, i hope they come back

anyway, i like wintersdays, i just like to some new and special items and/or skills
my snowball build:
http://gw.gamependium.com/tools/buil...2sO0WSNsn1ORLA

note to that build: i used both dwayna and grenth skills, instead of the profession based ones

ps. this wintersday gave me that idea, to have snowball skills from a consumable or pve only skill

anyway, i'll be farming and questing soon

It could be that the grentch present run is forthcoming. There are a couple other events (Halloween comes to mind), that roll out all festivities over a period of days. With Winterfest being 2+ weeks long, most likely we'll see the Present Run come after Christmas. Sort of gives people enough time to play through the quests this week and do their farming next week.

Well, at least it's in keeping with the whole "winter" theme. Something that doesn't make hair disappear would be welcomed. And a proper hood, not the cobbled together-looking weird hood from Halloween this year, could be really nice as long as there isn't major clipping.

Three scarves? Different colors depending on Dwayna or Grenth? And the third as an alt to the hood? Presumably the hood is the hat for Kamadan, home of the Dervish......

It seems kinda odd to have a scarf as a hat, I would think it would work better as a body item than a hat item. how to get it to simply overlay with your existing armor would require some special coding but maybe it could be done? besides didn't they say that the head slot only has one dyable slot on it so it becomes a choice of showing your hair or the hat. A scarf would then have the same issues the blindfold has now. As a body item, dyable slots wouldn't matter as much.

- It should have been obvious the "hats" would be complimentary to the costumes. The first item would go to the Lyssa one and the second with Kormir.
- I'm surprised more people didn't comment on my suggestions on the first page. Who wouldn't want bunny ears (Dwanya item) and/or a crooked christmas tree with dyable broken ornaments (Grenth item)?

I don't get it. I have at five different hoods now (not counting the dervish armour).

One from the Augur of Kormir, one from the Vale Wraith, one from the Raiment of the Lich, one from the Shining Blade and a fifth one that most people have from the Reaper's Hood.

Why does anyone need another hood? If you love hoods that badly just play a dervish. Couldn't they have come up with something new or different?

I don't mind the scarf, although it does remind me how badly I hate the scarf on the Ravenheart Witchwear. It completely ruins the front view of that costume. I wish they had offered a version without the stupid scarf for people who hate it.

While I'm being a beam of optimism I'll also mention the Augur of Kormir. Did anyone think those chains were a good idea after seeing their character move their arms? They take a really awesome looking costume and make it look absolutely ridiculous with it's physics defying arm chains. Please remove them from the hands, or at least shorten them so I don't see those stupid floating chains every time my paragon holds his spear in the air.

not everyone is willing to pay RL money for costumes. I would never buy a costume, so ill be glad to get a hood that doesn't look all creepy and reaperish.

I can see your point and agree that it's nice to have variety as well as free access to things similar to what other players have, but from the perspective of someone who has purchased every costume, this festival hat really feels like I'm not getting anything fun and new because I already have not just one but several hoods.

It rewards players who bought costumes a lot less than it rewards someone who has none. I don't believe one player is more important than the other - this isn't an us or them issue, I simply believe they should be offering festival hats that are fun and different from anything previously released for all players, not something that is a slightly altered version of what I've already paid for.

I believe this was a recycling of assets decision, cutting corners to make an easy festival hat by barely altering the costume headpiece, rather than ArenaNet really thinking a hood was a fun and unique festival head piece that fits some kind of artistic vision. It feels like they've recycled costume head pieces to make festival hats.

'Recycling' head pieces for a 'new' hat has been done in the past. There are two Yule caps (the first and oldest being the more attractive, imo, and of course it's the one that was deleted pre-storage days). There was the Horns of Grenth and then the Great Horns of Grenth. Two pumpkin heads, two dragon hats (actually 4 but the other two are significantly different).

I can understand where it would be time consuming trying to come up with a new holiday headpiece that is different and attractive/fun while still keeping within the theme of the ingame holiday. I consider a few of the past holiday masks to be so unattractive and unappealing to me game-wise, I refused to log in to get them. I wasn't too pleased with this past Halloween's offerings; the hood is ill-drawn and ill-conceived (imo) and the tricorne is so Pirates of the Caribbean instead of Guild Wars.

I wish there would be more real guilds and less henchways or afkers in snowball tourneys
Makes me sad that only few people care about that even tho it's just too much fun!! At least for me it is xD

Am I the only one who is RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing loving the possibility of scarves?!
Hood, meh, whatever, but damn I want me a scarf. Not only is it Christmas related but fashionable as well, not like, oh say almost every hat I've gotten so far(2009-present) ...Maybe the Crystal Shard crow/iara were decent.

I see your latter point though...

They really need make these, along with face paint and maybe the cat ears/spectercles, take up a different costume slot because they themselves are more accessories. And yeah they'll clip badly, especially if they act like hair and move when you do.

This.

/unrelated
I think scarves and (as I found in the German wiki), hoods are kind of..blergh.

I understand that Anet are working on many, many other things as well, but I'm a little disappointed, I guess.
